Do you have a favorite drink? A cocktail that makes your day better or cheers you up when it’s not going so well? If you’re like me, the answer is yes. I am always on the lookout for new cocktails to try and share with friends. This week, I found this recipe for a crown apple cocktail which has already become my new go-to.

When thinking about this drink, I absolutely knew that if Devon from Ace of Spades by Faridah Ă€bĂkĂ©-ĂŤyĂmĂdĂ© was a bit older (21+ unfortunately), and had a signature cocktail – this one would be it.

If you want to hear more about the amazing book that is Ace of Spades and how to make a crown apple cocktail, read on!

Talented musician Devon buries himself in rehearsals, but he can’t escape the spotlight when his private photos go public. Head girl Chiamaka isn’t afraid to get what she wants, but soon everyone will know the price she has paid for power.

Someone is out to get them both. Someone who holds all the aces. And they’re planning much more than a high-school game…” (Goodreads)

Ace of Spades by Faridah Ă€bĂkĂ©-ĂŤyĂmĂdĂ© was one of my favorite reads in September. I had listened to it as an audiobook and fell head over heels for the different characters especially following Devon and Chiamaka.

If you love mystery and who-dun-it kind of books, this one’s for you! In hindsight I would say this book is a combination of Gossip Girl, Get Out (the film) and Truly Devious.

In addition, we have this incredible touch on racism throughout the novel as Devon and Chimaka grapple with being the only Black students at their school. This book was eerie and chilling from beginning to end.  Faridah Ă€bĂkĂ©-ĂŤyĂmĂdĂ© did an absolutely incredible job of creating an engaging book that pressed on real world issues.

Crown Apple Cocktail And Devon Make The Perfect Pair

Below we will dive into the ingredients and overall “how-to” for making this intoxicating cocktail. But first, let’s take a look at how Devon (our main protagonist from Ace of Spades) and Crown Apple Cocktail make a great pair.

Devon’s character throughout Ace of Spades is full of pure curiosity and drive to find out who is sending those anonymous texts to the entire school. In my personal opinion, this drink combines both strength and crispness incredibly well with it’s inclusion of apples.

There is a very crisp and clean flavor that you truly never get tired of, just like Devon’s continued efforts throughout the novel to uncover who’s behind those texts ruining his life.
