Chapter 1235 See
Chapter 1235 See
Cogiar stood there, in complete shock, as the child returned to her parents and they continued to celebrate the light under their roofs. They were safe. They were warm. They were happy. He wasn't the only one feeling this way. The other Ersatz prisoners around him were in complete silence as they began to realize what they did.
The family praised them, as if they saved them, as if they had just rescued them from the maws of a terrible monster.
They barely did anything. And yet, this family was safe. They would no longer have to worry as the night came and the blizzard brought chaos outside their four walls. Light would continue to suffuse this household with warmth.
And all they did was connect a few wires.
It was this easy? Changing lives was this simple?
They thought… they thought that security, warmth, and peace could only be achieved through having tremendous power. Only by changing yourself into a zombie monster without a beating heart, could you defeat the other monsters of the world.
Yet, why did this family look more happy than them? Why were they more comfortable, even though they were as powerless as they were before?
They couldn't understand it. The Ersatz codes… it prioritized the end goal. As long as they saved humanity from their own doom, it didn't matter what they did. If they had to sacrifice thousands, millions, or even billions of people, they would do it in order to save their species.
They said that this was the only way for everyone to achieve happiness. Yet, why were these people already happy?
Would they become even happier, more content, more secure, if they had succeeded in their goal and destroyed the current rule of the world?
That question plagued Cogiar as they exited the house and returned with the Rebornian construction workers.
Eventually, one of the engineers approached them.
"Good work out there," the Yellow Mankey said. "Boss says he appreciated your efforts. And so, he rewards you with a small break. Go do whatever you want to do while we're here."
This was it. This was exactly what they were waiting for. Cogiar could use the excuse of exhaustion to look for the Ersatz spy in this town.
And yet…
"What about you," he asked the Rebornian Engineer.
"Us? We're going to continue working on the neighboring town. The blizzard will soon move towards their location."
As the engineer said that, he continued to pack with the rest of the Rebornian construction workers.
Even though they've worked the entire day, even though the blizzard continued to pelt them with cold hard ice from above, they were still roaring to work for more hours.
Cogiar saw that look in their eyes. They weren't being forced to do this. They want to do it.
They were genuinely excited to see the other territories become blessed with electricity just like this town.
And as he began his thoughts, he couldn't help but call out to the Rebornians.
"Wait," he said. "Take us with you. We can still work."
He didn't discuss any of this with his fellow Ersatz prisoners. But it looked like he didn't have to. They were as eager as him.
The Yellow Mankey Engineer smiled and nodded. "Looks like boss was right. Good. Let's get going and spread the comfort of Reborn!"
…
…
…
The Ersatz prisoners continued to work for the Rebornian construction project, visiting territories, connecting houses onto the electrical grid, and changing the lives of people right in front of their very eyes.
And as they kept on going and going, Cogiar's temperament became more and more subdued. He was deep in thought, ruminating, thinking.
Of course, Michael watched all of this from afar, using his Mini Drones.
Just for safety's sake, he always had a Mini Drone following the Ersatz prisoners.
Don't get it wrong. It's not because he didn't trust them. It was because he didn't trust the mischievous slime that was under the shadows.
Fudge, of course, wanted to take a more active approach in changing the brainwash embedded into the Ersatz prisoner's mind. It seemed to work for him, as he already had a few Ersatz prisoners transition into becoming devout worshippers of the Iron Maiden.
Michael took a different route. He believed that they could change by themselves, even without having to force them to change.
And it looked like he was right. Slowly, but surely, those Ersatz prisoners were starting to change. They seemed more eager at work, especially now that they knew who they were working for. They were working for the smiles of those families.
This was killing two birds with one stone.
He was able to change the Ersatz members, while also speeding up the construction of the electrical grid around their territories. Their new prisoners were a good source of manpower they desperately needed.
By now, about 40% of their new allies and territories were covered in the electrical grid.
This was great news. Now that the Nuclear Power Plant was finally completed, Kong and the Engineers could finally start the construction of the Phone Factory.
…
…
Kong, thankfully, was already ready with the blueprint with the Phone factory. It seemed that he had coordinated with the Dwarves, who had been more than excited to start their contribution to the Rebornian business.
And so, with their help, the construction of the factory started.
Meanwhile, as this happened, Michael took a look at the current situation with the people of the Mining Estate.
Using his thousands of Mini Drones above the Nation of Reborn, he was able to locate them quite easily.
They seemed to be having fun in the rollercoasters.
And so, he immediately went over there and found Sheina, Jaku, Umisu, and the ten nuclear-talented people from the mining estate.
As soon as he landed, Sheina immediately came up to him with an excited look on her face.
"Lord Michael! You have got to see this! This is amazing right?"
